Myths about Hair Loss and the True Solution to Hair Loss

The common term for androgenic alopecia is male pattern baldness and it is the most common source of baldness for men accounting to nearly 90% of the types of hair losses a man can encounter.  Male pattern baldness is actually a dilemma for every man because it not only makes them lose their self-confidence, but they get depressed about their condition and physical appearance as well, especially when they are vain about their looks and how they appear in public.  This makes this condition about next to erectile dysfunction in men.

There are actually a lot of men who would go through great lengths just to treat and be rid of this condition.  Many have tried using different methods and concoction just to treat it but to no avail.  This is because most of the hair loss treatment being sold in the market only treats the problem and not the root cause.

Many are aware that androgenic alopecia is a genetically inherited trait.  This means that if the father or brother of a family has the condition, then the other males in that family may also inherit the condition.  Despite this known fact, there are still many who believe in rumors as to what causes baldness.  Some are somewhat plausible, some, not so.

  • If a man grows his hair long like that of a woman, then he submits his hair follicles to straining which will cause some or many of his hair to fall.
  • If a man wears hats or caps for prolonged periods almost on every day of the month, then it won’t be long until he develops hair loss.  The reason: if you wear a cap all day that has no proper ventilation, sweat and oil will cover your scalp which will slowly kill the hair follicles.
  • If you shampoo frequently, you damage your hair and make the follicles dry while at the same time lose the essential oils that are in the scalp.  This in turn will make you lose your hair.
  • Also, if you shampoo very rarely, there will be enough oil buildup in your scalp that the hair follicles in the scalp will suffocate and die.  Again, making you lose your hair.

The truth is these issues do not exactly contribute to the condition of androgenic alopecia.  Androgenic alopecia occurs due to genetic factors and excessive levels of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT).  Basically if you have both, you are likely bound to have the condition.

Dihydrotestosterone does not exactly cause the hair loss condition, but when the levels of DHT are too high, it basically squeezes the life out of the hair follicles.  At first, this results into the thinning of the hair strands because the hair follicles have also thinned out.  Ultimately, the hair follicles will be totally thinned out that they can no longer support any hair growth.

To truly solve this type of hair loss, you need a drug that interferes with the production of DHT.  This is where finasteride 1mg comes in as it specializes in inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase from converting the hormone testosterone into DHT.  This makes finasteride 1mg truly effective against androgenic alopecia as it treats the condition at hormonal levels.
